Exotic Plumerias
Lovely scented plumerias represent birth and love, as well as spring and new beginnings! The 4″ x 6″ Exotic Plumerias Stamp Set showcases the beauty of these gorgeous blooms in an arrangement of three flowers and leaves. The set also includes seven lovely sentiments to complete any project. There are 8 stamps in this set.
Today, I am using paper strips for a few different reasons—to create a background, to add color to the plumerias and to also have fun with the eclipse technique.

Paper Strips
I started off by die cutting Gradient Cardstock into strips of different widths. I used Rose Quartz and Purple Wine from the Rose Petal Gradient Cardstock Set and Buttercream, Warm Sunshine and Caramel from the Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock Set.
I adhered the strips on to an A2 sized panel of Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock using liquid glue. I cut off the excess from the sides and then placed the shape die from the Labels & Tags 2 Die Set on top, securing in place with low-tack tape. I ran it through my die cutting machine and popped the shape out before setting aside.

Vellum Flower
I stamped the flower image from the Exotic Plumerias Stamp Set on to Translucent Vellum using Embossing Ink and the Stampwheel. I applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder to the image and heat set until melted.
TOP TIP: Be careful when embossing on vellum, it can warp very easily! Work in sections and remove the heat tool as to not overheat the vellum and cause warping.
The image was then die cut using the Exotic Plumerias Die Set and set aside.

Eclipse Technique
I took the panel that was die cut and adhered it on to the front of an A2 white card base using Glue Tape. I cut the tag another three times from white cardstock and adhered them one on top of another. This will add dimension to the tag. They were then adhered on to the card, popping in place where the shape was cut from.
I tied twine through the paper striped tag and tied in a bow. It was then adhered on top of the other tags to create the eclipse look.
I love how the strips go across the whole card but having them popped up in the middle (on the tag), adds more interest to the card.

Adding Color to the Image
I stamped and heat embossed a sentiment from the Exotic Plumerias Stamp Set. It was cut into a strip and adhered to the vellum image using Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
I added a few Cherry Blossom and Pocketful of Sunshine Enamel Dots on top. The sentiment and enamel dots will hide the glue that I add to the back of the image. I also added dabs of glue where the embossing is at it's thickest. This makes it so that you cannot see the adhesive through the vellum.
It was then added on to the card to finish, and because the vellum is translucent, you can see the paper strips through it. This adds color to the image as well the background!
I hope I have inspired you to have fun with paper strips and the Exotic Plumerias set! You can watch the full process video below or on YouTube.
