Billowing Peonies Stamp/Die/Stencil Bundle

Did you know that aside from their gorgeousness and sweet fragrance, peonies have the incredible staying power of living more than 100 years? The 8″ x 11″ Billowing Peonies Stamp Set showcases some of the largest peonies ever released from Altenew! With their billowing wind-swept petals and lush greenery, these larger-than-life flowers will be an absolute delight to color! If you are not in the mood to color, the coordinating layering stencils can help add color and dimension to these beautiful blooms.

Card Idea featuring Billowing Peonies

For today's project, I wanted to share how you can hide a tag within a card design for a super fun way to add a sentiment!

Billowing Peonies

I started off by stamping the larger of the two images from the Billowing Peonies Stamp Set onto a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel of Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock using Permanent Black Ink. I did this twice to create two panels.

On one panel, I placed the Billowing Peonies Layering Stencil Set on top, using the Stampwheel to help keep the stencils in place while ink blending. I placed each stencil on top, one by one, and added ink blending to color the image using Small Ink Blending Tools.

Billowing Peonies

I used Cherry Blossom Crisp Dye Inks for the flower petals, Golden Sunset Crisp Dye Inks (Sunray and Chamomile) for the flower centers, and Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks for the leaves (Firefly and Grass Field). I love how bright and vibrant these colors are, but I think these peonies would look amazing in lots of other colors too!

Creating the Tag

With the other stamped image panel, I die cut a tag (from the Terrific Tags Die Set) from the left-hand side of the Billowing Peonies image. I only need a small amount of the stamped image, but I found it was easier to cut the tag from the whole panel for placement purposes.

Billowing Peonies

I added ink blending to the image portion of the tag using the same method as I used on the panel. I then took the ‘hugs' sentiment from Billowing Peonies Stamp Set and stamped it towards the top of the tag using Permanent Black Ink. This is what will be visible on the front of the card.

I cut another tag and sandwiched these together using Glue Tape for added stability. I then tied twine through the tag and tied it in a bow.

Hiding the Tag

Billowing Peonies

The top of the image (with the bottom of the panel left intact) was cut out and adhered to an A2 white card base with Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I made sure to leave a space on the back of the panel free from foam tape (and create a channel for it) so that I could pop the tag behind, and it could slide in and out easily from behind the peonies.

To finish off and embellish, I added a few Essential Black & White Enamel Dots.

I thought this was a fun way to add a sentiment to the card, but the tag itself still has some interest. It is also a fun way to create an interactive element without too much work.

TOP TIP:

I added the peonies to the bottom of the tag to fit in with the image panel, but you could do anything here. You can even add money to the tag for a fun surprise element!
