Orchids Layering Card #1: Best Wishes (Vellum, Ink-Blending, Splatter, Spray-Ink, and Die-Cutting)
I've always loved white orchids. I imagine that vellum will be a good idea to try as petals. The Vellum Translucent Paper is ideal for creating delicate orchid petals. For the orchid center, I applied Artist Markers (Crimson and Violet) to the vellum and let it dry. Using the guide on the package, I easily assembled the orchid flowers. As for the stems, I previously ink-sprayed and die cut the paper.
Notice the details of the sentiment? I trimmed off part of the Mini Instant Camera Frame Die. This is a great way to stretch this very versatile die set.
For the background, I ink-blended a touch of yellow (Citrus Burst) and pink (Baby Pink) and added a few splatters (Frosty Pink Metallic Shimmer Ink Spray). The Satin White Sequins are perfect embellishments for this.
Orchids Layering Card #2: Happy Birthday (Ink-Blending, Stencil, Die-Cutting)
This Craft-A-Flower Orchids Layering Die Set is perfect for any orientation. Here, I changed it to a horizontal design.
I was inspired by the vibrant orchid color combo that I always see in my local flower shop. I applied pink (Cherry Blossom) and purple (Shades of Purple) onto a Classic Crest Solar Cardstock (80 lbs). The “happy birthday” sentiment is from the “Well Read Stamp Set.”
Orchids Layering Card #3: With Heartfelt Thanks (Die-Cutting, Embossing Folder, and Ink-Blending)
These flowers were created in a similar manner as Card #2. I did change up the background a bit by tilting the Window Slats Embossing Folder.
I love the subtle color of the Lavender Field Cardstock and thought it makes a great pairing with the orchid flower colors (as seen in Card #2 too).
1 Product, Multiple Ways!
Before you go, here are a few card ideas featuring this new die set!
In this card, Tenia made a beautiful card featuring a black and white background, which made the vibrant colors of her orchid die-cut stand out! We just love the contrast of black, white, and pink!
Jaycee brought a lot of creativity to his card by making a gorgeous array of multiple orchid flowers on black cardstock. He topped off the look with some white splatters, gold sequins, and an adorable “smile” sentiment! For her card, Michelle ink-blended her orchid die-cuts with hot pink colors and paired them with a textured white background. The perfect icing on the cake was the clear enamel dots! We totally stan the clean yet gorgeous look!
Joylita's card gives off an out-of-this-world vibe with its glowing bunch of orchids! We love how she colored her die-cut petals and set them against a cover die background of black and gold. Lastly, Caly shows us that splatters are the perfect pairings for a beautiful branch of radiant orchids. The textured background is definitely a technique we need to replicate!
