Woah! So much has happened since our big announcement about our first ever poetry competition. We've had our 6th anniversary celebrations, lots of exciting new releases, and big lifestyle changes occurring worldwide.

Within the circumstances, we are grateful that so many of you were able to share such inspiring poetic messages with us. In fact, we were blown away by the responses we received for the competition. You guys are amazing!

It was definitely a challenge to pick our favorites from all the entries, and we truly appreciate all the thought, emotion, love, and creativity put into each of your poems. At the end of the day, we had to choose our winners, and we made our selections based on creativity, quality of writing, originality, and message. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to ALL of our participants. We love you guys so much!

Ok, so without further ado, here are our winners.

First up are our top three winners who simply astounded us with their beautiful poetic verses.

1st Place

Our first place winner who will receive a $150 Altenew gift card is Teri Spracklin.

My Mother's Flowers
by Teri Spracklin

My mother’s flowers

the surest sign of home

their delicate robust bodies

springing up

through gravel or snow

We absolutely love this beautiful heartfelt poem about a mother's flowers. This poetic reflection truly touched our hearts and serves as a reminder to cherish our special memories. No description of our Build-A-Flower sets has ever been as poignant as this. Thank you so much for sharing your heart, Teri!

2nd Place

Our second place winner who will receive a $100 Altenew gift card is Bobby Hagen.

Altenew Ink
by Bobby Hagen

Where would I be

I sometimes think

without my cubes

of Altenew ink

This charming, catchy poem caught our attention immediately. We love how Bobby summed up the charms of the various Altenew ink colors in a few short verses. Her poem almost reads like a series of Dr. Seuss rhymes. Great job, Bobby!

3rd Place

Our third place winner who will receive a $50 Altenew gift card is Sharon Gullikson.

A Crafting Limerick
by Sharon Gullikson

There once was a crafter on trend,

Who considered paper a friend,

She continued to buy,

Off the shelves it would fly,

But PLEASE don't ask her to lend!

This fun and creative poem is a true winner in our eyes! Using humor, Sharon perfectly captures the image of a crafter. Sharon touches on many different Altenew product categories in her poem in such a fun way that we can't help but be convinced by her wit!

Separate the Layers
by Lisa Fae Atwood

Beauty is often hidden

beneath layers

We love this sweet descriptive poem honoring our Floral Fantasy Stamp Set. The metaphor of flowers representing life is very well-written. Well done, Lisa!

Altenew Classes
by Pam Boedeker

Videos to show me

what I wanted to do.

Encouraging words to

guide me through

We love the storytelling in this poem. Pam did a great job representing our online classes, right down to including the names of some of our designers!

Ink
by Eva Bussom

Every stamp needs ink

It gives life to what we think

Now the stamps can sing

O, the joy it brings

This short catchy poem caught our attention with its fun rhymes and lighthearted writing. Great job describing our inks, Eva!

An Ode to Painted Butterflies
by Rita Chen Fujisawa

layer upon layer

painted butterflies flutter

gossamer wings stickled with stardust

wander

take flight

across the imagination to land softly on the

four-and-a-quarter

by five-and-a-half

expanse of white

Rita's beautiful imagery in this poem simply blew us away! We love this tribute to our beloved Painted Butterflies Stamp Set.

Botany of the Soul
by Mellissa Hill

Flowers bloom

In ink, pencil, paint, imagination.

Growing across the page,

Tendrils reaching, petals unfurling

We love how this short poem depicts the power of crafting and creating in our lives with a few moving words. This is a beautiful testament to our floral stamps.

Flowers in My Craftroom
by Barbara Lassiter

The flowers in my craft room

Provide me beauty and delight

With inspiration from morning to night

We love this sweet catchy poem and its representation of the long-lasting nature of cards compared to the constant changing of the seasons. Barbara did a great job writing about our floral stamps.

Vintage Roses
by Jackie Posnansky

Mom knew I loved roses and I can truly see

why Altenew, like my dear mother, is such a part of me

Jackie's sweet heartfelt remembrance of her mother touched our hearts. We love that our Vintage Roses Stamp Set has been able to serve as a reminder of a precious family member. Thank you for sharing, Jackie!

Beautiful Day
by Mirella Rogan

Card-making is my hobby,

It’s the thing that keeps me sane.

My wallet might be skinny,

But my evenings ain’t mundane!

Some folks may prefer make-up,

Or clothes, or a fancy shoe…

My therapy is also retail,

But I shop at Altenew

This fun, clever poem kept us smiling from beginning to end! Thanks for the laugh, Mirella!

Our Rainbow Walls of Ink
by Lori Smart

A craft room can be a magical place

Where ink pads form rainbows that canvas the wall.

With beautiful colors aligned in a case

And all who enter find their senses in thrall

We love the beautiful message in this poem, which delightfully captures imagery representing some of our favorite Altenew ink colors. Beautifully done, Lori!

Altenew Floral Stamps
by Geri Stuart

Designers creative,

exciting and fun

Show products delightful,

I can't pick just one!

This catchy rhyming poem is so fun! We love the way Geri weaves in storytelling and humor into her words to represent her love for our floral stamps.
