Now, let's move onto my projects for today.

Altenew BAF Semi-Double Chrysanthemum Stamp Set | Erum Tasneem | @pr0digy0

Mixed Media Ink as Watercolor

To begin, heat emboss the images onto 9×12 Watercolor Cardstock in Golden Peach Embossing Powder. Next, use the Mixed Media Inks in Grapevine, Ruby Red, and Coral Berry to color the flowers. For the leaves, I used Evergreen and Forest Glades Mixed Media Inks.

For the background, I used Evening Gray Watercolor Brush Marker on A2 Watercolor Cardstock. In order to create a woodgrain look, first, apply a light color wash. Then, dry the panel with a heat tool. Next, use the Evening Gray Watercolor Brush Marker directly to add dry brush strokes. And also add details – as in freehand wood grain patterns. You can dry between layers if you want a more prominent background. For subtle background, don't over-dry it.

Once done, dry the panel and add splatters of black paint from the Watercolor Essential 12 Pan Set.

Place the images onto the panel to figure out the sentiment placement, and then stamp the sentiment in Obsidian Pigment Ink. Next, adhere the images with foam tape. Pop up an additional sentiment strip with a heat embossed sentiment to add a black element and balance the look.

To finish, adhere Satin Gold Sequins.

Adding Details to Step-Up Your Card Design

A couple of changes to card layouts can really change the whole look of the card. As you can see, in the card above, I added a grid window frame and some gold glitter elements to basically the same card design as my first card. And just look at the difference.

Start by heat embossing the images on 9×12 Watercolor Cardstock in Rose Gold Embossing Powder. Then, cut out the flower separately. On the Watercolor Palette, scribble (apply) some Rouge and Citrus Burst Watercolor Brush Marker pigment from the Winter Wonderland Set. Next, spritz a bit of water on it. Flip your embossed image over the pigment and smoosh it. Dry. Repeat. Keep on doing this till you are happy with the result.

For more concentrated pigment, apply pigments individually onto the palette with little or no water, and smoosh the cardstock over it. Repeat till you are happy with the look. Dry with your heat tool. Make sure not to have your heat tool too close to the embossed image as to not burn the embossing powder. Repeat the same process for the leaves, use Limeade and Moss Watercolor Brush Markers from the Spring Garden Set.

To step it up, take Rouge Watercolor Brush Marker and add pigment directly to the nooks that are at the end of the petals (closer to the flower center). You can soften with a wet paintbrush. I used one of the Round Brushes by Altenew.

To add more texture to the images, add splatters of clean water with a paintbrush and then sop them up with tissue paper. Dry the images and then die cut them using the coordinating dies.

Grid Window Frame

For the grid window frame, cut a panel that is one inch smaller than the card front. Cut out a window through it so you end up with a frame. My frame border is around 1/4″. Die cut the Grid Cover Die and adhere the frame over the grid die-cut. Snip off the excess. Adhere foam tape behind the frame.

Apply Moss Watercolor to the card front by ink smooshing. Dry the panel in between to achieve more texture. Also, add splatters of the same. Try to keep this subtle. We just want to enhance the grid frame by adding the watercolor and also to gel the flowers a little better. Once the card front is dry, adhere the grid window partially and place a piece of foam tape where the flower would go so the grid wouldn't dip. Once this is done, adhere the grid completely. Then, adhere the image over the grid with foam tape.

To step up the floral arrangement, die cut one of the dies from the Create-A-Wreath Die Set out of gold glitter cardstock. Then, adhere these pieces into my floral arrangement as fillers. This will not only add sparkle to your project but will also make the arrangement appear more appealing and fuller and it juts out in various directions.

You can watch the video below or on YouTube to see how the card came together.

Another fabulous BAF set. Love the sentiments and the unpretentiously pretty flower. This is a must have for me, since in my culture Chrysanthemums are used for Day of the Dead altars and of course now it will be included in my scrapbooking of said day too. Thanks for the wonderful inspiration! Have a wonderful day!
