Hello there, everyone! I am super excited to bring to you a double-decker release! Today, Altenew is releasing the Paint-A-Flower: Clematis Outline Stamp Set plus not one but TWO sets of Artist Alcohol Markers!
Like our popular Build-A-Flower Layering Stamp & Die Sets, these beauties are released every month, so make sure to look out for them in our store. For the month of February, our featured set is the Paint-A-Flower: Clematis Outline Stamp Set!
Be your own kind of beautiful with this beautiful floral outline stamp set. The clematis flower is a stunning flowering plant that has an aura of its own. The stamp set has been designed keeping that in mind, so the flower in the stamp set is shown climbing a garden trellis.

That's not all!
This is the release you all have been waiting for – Altenew is releasing NEW alcohol markers today! We are so excited to reveal two new marker sets: Sunshine Valley Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set F and Water Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set G, along with coordinating alcohol inks.
Our Artist Markers are alcohol-based, allowing you to beautifully blend colors to any stamped images. Our wide range of stamps is perfect for these markers. You can also easily pair them with our Crisp Dye Inks to take your coloring to the next level! The colors in this set are designed to be as close as possible to our existing ink colors, so you can take the color guessing game out of the way when coloring.
Today's Project
I used all the markers from both sets to color my card. So, let's begin!
Coloring:
Stamp the Paint-A-Flower: Clematis Outline Stamp onto a panel of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock in Permanent Black Crisp Ink. Next, use the colors from the Sunshine Valley Garden Artist Markers Set to color the pink and yellow flowers along with the green leaves. To color, make sure to start with the darkest moving on to the lighter shades in the color family.
The colors in the Sunshine Valley Garden Artist Markers Set (Set F) are as follows:
Pink: Razzleberry, Rubellite, Pinkalicious, and Pink Diamond
Yellow: Honey Drizzle, Maple Yellow, Fresh Lemon, and Citrus Burst
Green: Mountain Pine, Shadow Creek, Fresh Leaf, and Firefly
For the purple, teal, and browns, I used the Water Garden Artist Alcohol Marker Set (Set G). The colors in this set are as follows:
Purple: Andromeda, Ultramarine, Hydrangea, and Wisteria
Teal: Galactic Stream, Teal Cave, Aqualicious, and Dew Drops
Brown: Milk Chocolate, Almond Butter, Hazelnut, and Vanilla Cream
Adding Details:
In the video, I share tips and tricks on how to color “wood” and achieve a faux woodgrain look, so do not miss it! This has everything to do with switching between your nibs and the marker shades! To create the light vertical lines on the wood, go over the area continuously with the lightest color marker, in this case, Vanilla Cream Artist Alcohol Marker. And then around it, I added woodgrain with darker shades. But I also kept going over those darker shades with a lighter marker (bullet nib) to get a more natural-looking pattern.
Once my coloring is done, I will move on to the watercolor. For this, I will use greens from the Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set and paint my background. To enhance the shadows in the background and show depth in my “faux foliage”, I will also add a bit of Rock Collection pigment which is essentially a dark gray pigment.
After this, I will use Fine Liner Pen Set to add a few pen details. This includes adding to the woodgrain pattern and enhancing the outlines. This helps make your image stand out. And to make the flowers pop a bit more, I will also add additional details with a white gel pen. These are just dots of various sizes on the flower centers, but they make such a huge difference.
You can watch the process video below or on YouTube.
