3 Different Coloring Styles with New Beginnings Stamp Set | Creative Coloring with Erum

by Erum Tasneem

Hi there! Erum here with three cards to share plus a video featuring the New Beginnings Stamp Set.

I will start with the simplest and chicest card first.

I started by stamping one of the images in Obsidian Pigment Ink. For the dots, I used Artist Marker in Jet Black. I adhered two strips of Golden Trim Washi Tape on black cardstock and then die cut the word thanks using Fine Alphabet Die Set.

I stamped all the images in this set on their own in black ink only and they looked absolutely gorgeous. You can create your own card set following the card style above with different sentiment and image.

I heat embossed three different images on watercolor cardstock in Pure White Embossing Powder. Next, I used Artist Watercolors to color the images. The blue panel was also watercolored with the Artist Watercolors.

The sentiment was stamped in Obsidian Pigment Ink.

For the last card, again, I used Artist Watercolors. I am loving these new watercolors. You will see me use these often now!

I have a process video for this card at the end of this post. To begin, I stamped the flowers in Obsidian Ink and then colored them in various shades of yellows and oranges. All color names are mentioned in the video.

For the card front, I first added water to the panel and then a light color wash of green color with splatters of the same. Next, I drew horizontal lines of varying thickness to form a base for my floral arrangement.

The sentiment is from Paint-A-Flower: Poppy Stamp Set.

To finish, I added what I am calling is “controlled splatters” with Jet Black Artist Marker.

You can watch the process video below or on YouTube.

Here is a look again at all the three cards.

You can never go wrong with black, white and gold. It’s a great combo. The spatters are so neatly placed. Very beautiful cards.
Thanks,

Erica K.

Gorgeous cards. The New Beginnings set is my favorite from this fantastic Altenew release and you’ve showcased it beautifully. I also love those watercolors — think it’s time to replace the cheap set I’ve been using!

They are all wonderful! The first is so elegant in black & white. I love the blue BG with the bright, beautiful flowers. But the last card is my absolute fav!! Love the design – especially those black lines.

All 3 cards are so different and stunning! Love the black and white with the gold! And it looks easy enough to recreate a similar look.

Erum, your card designs are a beautiful example of the new releases. I’m (im)patiently waiting for mine to arrive, I can’t wait to start playing with the watercolours! I do have a question though: with Obsidian being sold out at the moment I’m wondering which type of ink in my stash would be comparable? Archival? Amalgam? Stayz On?
