Hi there, everyone! Erum here with an alcohol marker-colored, one-layer floral card to share.
My project today features the Paint-A-Flower: Wood Anemone Stamp Set. I will use Artist Alcohol Markers to color it. And step it up by adding faux dimension with the help of Monochrome Shading Pencils.
Watching the video to get the best experience as I walk you through the coloring process will be best. However, I will also list the steps and colors for you here.
Begin by stamping the image from Paint-A-Flower: Wood Anemone Stamp Set onto a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ panel of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock in Permanent Black Ink.
TIP! To avoid ink smearing, heat set the panel for a few seconds.
Use Cosmic Berry, Rubellite, Pinkalicious, and Pink Diamond Markers. The darkest one, Cosmic Berry Marker, is from the Artist Alcohol Markers Rose Petal Set. The rest are from the Sunshine Valley Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set F.
I colored the flower from dark to light, then went back to add details to the tip using the kissing method, picking up color from the Rubellite Marker with Pinkalicious Marker. To add more depth, I also used Grape Agate Marker closer to the flower center and to areas where I wanted to add more shadows to pop them up. The Grape Agate Marker is from the Space Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set I.
To color the flower center, I used two yellows from the same Space Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set I, one dark and one light. Then, I added several dots with the white gel pen from the Must-Have Gel Pen Set.
I used the Misty Morning, Cloudy Sky, Nimbus, and Dark Night Markers to color the leaves. These are from the Space Garden Artist Alcohol Markers Set I. For this, I tried to get a satin-like coloring finish that is a smooth color look. As you can see, compared to the flowers, the leaves appear smooth.
Next, I used the 10B pencil from the Monochrome Shading Pencils and added this along the outline of some areas where I thought the flower or leaves would cast a shadow. Then I used a blending stump to blend this pigment outward to create a soft shadow-like effect. Doing so will instantly add the effect of faux dimension, and the image will appear lifted off the page.
Once done, I added controlled splatters using a black pen and then additional bigger splatters using black watercolor. Then, I will stamp the sentiment in Obsidian Pigment Ink.
