Celebrating Watercolors Blog Hop Newsletter

Hi there everyone! Welcome to the “Celebrating Watercolors Blog Hop.” Who doesn't love watercolors?! I know some of you are intimidated by them, but if you have been following my tutorials, you should know by now they are super fun and easy to work with. All you need to do is let loose sometimes.

To wrap up World Watercolor Month 2022, we are hosting a fun and inspirational blog hop to showcase Altenew watercolors and highlight incredible watercolor art from some of our designers and guest designers.

So, get out your watercolors, hop along, get inspired, and have fun watercoloring!

Celebrating Watercolors Project Inspiration

I used the Paint-A-Flower: China Rose Outline Stamp Set and stamped it partially on A2 Watercolor Cardstock in Obsidian Ink. Next, I used the Artists' Watercolor 24 Pan Set to color the image. I used mostly purple and a bit of pink for the flower on some of the petals. And for the leaves, I used a bunch of greens.

Once I was done with the watercolor, I used Woodless Coloring Pencils and added shading into the nooks of the petals or where I thought the shadows would be darkest. This gave my flower dimension.

Next, I added splatters of black paint onto the white card base. Then I die cut a circle using Halftone Circles Nesting Dies out of one of the papers from the Essential Black and White 6×6 Paper Pack. I adhered these elements to the card front. To finish, I adhered the sentiment.

You can watch the watercoloring process video below or on YouTube.
