Hi there everyone! Erum Tasneem here and I will be sharing how I created my card from yesterday's Craft-a-Flower: Sweet Violet Layering Die release yesterday. You are going to enjoy this one if you love getting your hands inky!
To start, cut three panels of 9×12 Watercolor Cardstock, roughly 3 inches wide to fit in the Mini Blossom Die Cutting Machine. Onto two panels, apply Ultraviolet Liquid Watercolor by first spritzing the panel with the Fine Mister and then using the flat brush from the Artists' Watercolor Brushes from the Round Brushes Set. Make sure to apply concentrated pigment onto one side and gradually reduce the concentration as you move towards the opposite end. You will be cutting all your layers out of this one panel.
While the panel is still wet, add concentrated splatters of Ultraviolet Liquid Watercolor and then also reduce the concentration by increasing the water content. In this way, you will get dark purple splatters as well as water splatters. Now, to add a bit more interest to the panel, use the purple pigment from the Metallic Watercolor 14 pan Set and add that to the existing purple pigment onto the palette and add splatters of that to the panel. Make sure the panel is not dry if you don't want vivid, prominent splatters. But if you want more prominent splatters, dry the panel and then add your metallic splatters. The die-cuts will look great either way. But the latter can be done after adhering the die-cut pieces together as well.
To make a light purple metallic color, mix the Sterling Silver from the Metallic Watercolor 14 pan Set and add it to the remaining pigment on the palette. Add splatters of this too onto the panel. The variation of all these pigments is going to create an interesting background and the fact that the panel is not dry will help merge and diffuse some of this pigment, giving a gorgeous marbling effect. Once you are happy with the look, dry the panels. Use the floral dies and die cut them out of these panels.
For the leaves, use Just Green, Mango Smoothie, and Yellow Ochre Liquid Watercolors. Apply the pigment in the same manner, as splatters. This time, add green metallic watercolor from the Metallic Watercolor 14 pan Set and mix it with the yellow-gold from the set to create a brighter, more vibrant green shade to match the Just Green hue. Once you are happy with the look, dry the panel. Die cut the leaves out of this panel.
Adhere the die-cut pieces together and set them aside.
For the card front, onto A2 Watercolor Cardstock, apply a light color wash of black and a mix of purple and blues from the Watercolor 36 Pan Set. Add a few black splatters to this once the color wash is dry. Adhere the floral die-cuts with liquid adhesive. And add a lot of sequins if you want to. I added glitter too! I was in my element! To finish, I stamped the sentiment from the Fresh Bloom Stamp Set in Obsidian Ink.
