Hi, everyone! Welcome to another Creative Coloring with Erum post. Today I will just be sharing with you a detailed watercolor look. And I want you to watch the video and color along with me.
I will be using the Florals Coloring Book and Watercolor Bundle today. The post will not be very long but the video will make up for that!
As with any image, start by adding a light color wash to the petal. Once done, color the alternate petal. When you have completed your rotation, make sure the petals are dry before adding color to the leftover ones.
Start adding details by first adding dark pigment where flowers are overlapping. Then, soften this by stippling. Further, soften the stippling with a slightly moist round brush. So at this point, if you are happy with your shading, start adding fine lines/streaks following the shape of the petals.
To finish, add darker stippling for interest and to change the look of the flower.
As for the flower center, follow the same manner of coloring. Start with a light pale yellow color wash and start building up layers in the form of stippling. Dry between layers if you want your stippling to be more prominent.
For the leaves, add a blue color to the midrib and lively green color to the tips of the leaves. This will create a tonal effect. Once the first layer has dried, add more pigment if needed. Otherwise, draw veins following the leaf design.
Add a light color wash of black for the background. Also, for interest, add purple and green from the floral image to the background, as well.
So, that is all for today! Watch the video below or on YouTube in HD where you will be able to slow down the speed and color along with me!
Thank you for stopping by! See you next week.

Erum, you most certainly out did yourself… I absolutely love the watercolors you used and your techniques. This is an absolute favorite of mine. Thank you so very much for sharing. I had to look up stippling because I’ve never heard of this technique but I’m also a beginner. I love your design.

Oh, Erum. You’re such an amazing artist. As I watched your process I felt like I could reach in and pick that flower right off the page. Stunning! Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
