Hello, dear Altenew friends! It's Virginia here and I am super excited to share a DIY project today. Like you, I am a huge fan of our monthly Build-A-Flower feature. The last two months' flowers (Camellia and Aster) are hugely popular and here's to add another reason why they are your ESSENTIAL craft supplies!
Due to the larger size and convenience (with the matching die), these flowers are ideal for creating a DIY projects! Need a bag in a jiffy and don't want to rush out to buy one? All you need is a plain paper bag and you are good to go. You can readily get these plain bags from your local dollar store or craft store.
I took the easiest approach to create these flowers in the following steps:
1. Spray Metallic Shimmer Ink on watercolor card stock. Warm Sunshine, Caramel Toffee, Ruby Red, Frosty Pink, Forest Glades and Frayed Leaf were used here.
2. Spray a few spritz of water would help spreading and blending the colors. Let dry or dry with a heat gun.
3. Emboss Build-a-Flower Aster in white, make the die cut.
4. Stamp leaves on gift bag and assemble the flowers with double-sided tape.
5. Add tiny splatter with Forest Glades and Frayed Leaf
6. Add a touch of shimmer with the Gold Glitter tape from New Day Card Kit.
Since I have all the supplies out, I may as well create a matching tag (see top right corner)!
While I was still having so much fun, I made a square card! This time, I gold-embossed the sketch image from Aster onto a piece of heat-resistant acetate.
Adding a piece of Gold Foil Card Stock also helps brings out the colors and shine.

I absolutely love your bag, Virginia! And the matching tag to go with it is just the icing on the cake! I love seeing what you create. You always make me think about the products I have in a different way. I never think about doing square cards. I think I kinda get in my groove and forget to think outside of my little bubble. Wow, your projects are gorgeous!! The aster stamp and die set is at the top of my wishlist. It’s such a beautiful and versatile set!! I just bought several things from Altenew and really wanted this but with a gift, something I needed, and one that I wanted a little more I had to let this one go. Next time, I guess.
