Create a Focal Point with a Large Stamp

by Virginia Lu

Hello, Altenew friends! It's Virginia here! Today's card is all about creating a unique focal point with a large stamp set. I am using “Engagement Wishes” as my example. You may find it daunting to use a large floral image as the focal point. With some planning ahead, you can easily come up with a one-of-a-kind image for your design.

Altenew-EngagementWish-Virginia#1
I started out with stamping the floral image in Jet Black first. I then stamped another flower image on my Post-it note paper and used that as the mask. With the mask in place, I stamped the leaves around the flower with Grass Field Crisp Dye Ink.
Altenew-EngagementWishes-Virginia#3-002Coloring the images with Watercolor Brush Markers does not get any easier. The vibrancy of the brush markers is absolutely amazing. With the help of a Watercolor Palette, I diluted the colors with a few droplets of water. I didn't fuss too much about the coloring as the detailed image truly speaks for itself.
Altenew-EngagementWishes-Virginia#2I stamped the flower in Embossing Ink with Crystal Clear Embossing Powder. This helps the flower outlines really show through! I can not stress enough about the beauty of using Clear Embossing Powder.
Altenew-EngagementWishes-Virginia#3After cutting out the ENTIRE image (leaves and flower in one piece), I set it aside and worked on the background. I added glitter paste with Floral Mandala Stencil. To make the birthday sentiment (from Dandelion Wishes) stand out, I white-embossed it in Pure White Crisp Embossing Ink. For the final touches, I added sequins, glitter, and strings.
Altenew-EngagementWishes-Virginia#4I hope this card inspires you to use your floral stamps to create a one-of-a-kind focal point. This is a great way to convey to the card receivers just how unique and special they are on their special day! Thank you for stopping by!

At first glance, I could tell this was Virginia’s card. All the special details are definitely hers. The stunningly colored bloom, the addition of sparkle with glitter paste and sequins. They combine to create a beautiful little piece of art.
