I paired the new die set with a sketch to create two beautiful shaker cards for you! I wanted to create some unique looks and also wanted to experiment a little with an idea in my head to see if I could create a shaker card without acetate or foam strips! Here's a look at the sketch I used as my starting point.
For my first take, I was really curious and wanted to create a tulle shaker, but I didn't want to use foam strips. I was amazed when I created this beauty, and it actually worked! You'll want to watch my latest Sketch Starters with Nicole video to get all of the details on how I created the shaker. I also give some tips on keeping the Framed Thanks Die nice and square.
Don't you just love the new Craft-A-Flower: Antique Rose Layering Die Set? It is beautifully plump, and the leaf selection is so nice with both layered leaves and a single leaf trio stem with integrated embossing! Instead of using various colors of cardstock, I created an ombre ink blended panel on white cardstock and cut the layers from the ink blended panel. It's the perfect way to get just the right color without having oodles of different colored cardstocks!
I always do two different looks with a sketch, so for my second design, I went for a die-cut shaker. I was able to use the outline die to create the shaker hole, and then used the typical acetate and foam strip technique to create the window. By omitting the second die layer, I was able to create a few see-through areas with the two detail layers added on top of the acetate.
To keep that wispy see-through look, I omitted the bottom layers on the leaves. And, to give the leaves and flower an integrated look, I arranged the leaves on the card, and then used the flower outline die to cut off the areas that would overlap. Then, when I added them onto the card, they were cut perfectly to look like they are tucked behind the flower!
Of course, to watch the play-by-play and get some additional tips on the die and these two shaker card styles, check out the latest Sketch Starter video!

This set looks lovely. I would love to win so I could afford to get it. But, I never win anything.
Wow! These shaker cards are gorgeous! I would never have thought to use tulle in making a shaker card. I always love the roses! Gorgeous cards!
Your card is so neat, despite the thin frame you pulled off the shaker so beautifully!
LOVE this beautiful layering die set! Its absolutely gorgeous!
So beautiful! This set is going to be a classic!
Absolutely gorgeous!!! The color combination used for the roses is not something I’ve seen done before, and definitely not a color combination I would have ever put together, but I am totally loving it!!! I am completely going to snag your idea and try it out myself ;) Thank you so much for sharing! Fantastic video also!!!
I watched your sketch video and liked it so much I am subscribing to the monthly C-A-F kit. The 2 cards were great, I like the no bulk of the shaker cards. And the second card looks awesome when you die cut the leaves to make them fit seamlessly. Can’t wait for my set to arrive. Thanks for the inspiration.
Cool. I would have never thought to use tulle. I also like the idea of double sided sticky foil sheets rather than foam tape. I have to give this a try.
I’ve been wanting to try a rose, this one is perfect’

Love these two shaker ideas
Howdy, ooh I’m in the market for a layered stamp set. This one is lovely. Great cards !
The use of tulle is fantastic!
LOVED THE VIDEO. I got several great ideas. Using tulle for shaker cards is a great idea!
Almost brand new to card making, although I’ve crafted throughout my life. Looking forward to trying some layered dies, but the price point is a little high for me right now as I get the basic supplies of paper, ink, stamps, etc. Once I’m stocked on those… I may just have to join your monthly club, as your dies and stamps are inspiring!
This die set is lovely – now on my wish list.
I have to make a second comment. This is the first time I’ve followed a blog hop all the way, usually I don’t have the time to devote to such a thing, but decided I needed to do this at least once. Happy to say there were several inspiring sites, and some I might follow in the future if time allows, but some I could tell were not making color choices, etc. in my wheelhouse. Some sites were very slow to download, and some difficult to find the comments section, so I didn’t leave comments on all. While I’d love to win this prize, it’s not worth digging through other stuff to find the comment section directly related to the roses. Love your stuff, and will be a customer in the future I’m sure.
I am a huge fan of the layering die sets and this is another great one! So nice how one large blossom easily fills a card! Love!
