I paired the new die set with a sketch to create two beautiful shaker cards for you! I wanted to create some unique looks and also wanted to experiment a little with an idea in my head to see if I could create a shaker card without acetate or foam strips! Here's a look at the sketch I used as my starting point.
Today's Projects
First Look
For my first take, I was really curious and wanted to create a tulle shaker, but I didn't want to use foam strips. I was amazed when I created this beauty, and it actually worked! You'll want to watch my latest Sketch Starters with Nicole video to get all of the details on how I created the shaker. I also give some tips on keeping the Framed Thanks Die nice and square.
Don't you just love the new Craft-A-Flower: Antique Rose Layering Die Set? It is beautifully plump, and the leaf selection is so nice with both layered leaves and a single leaf trio stem with integrated embossing! Instead of using various colors of cardstock, I created an ombre ink blended panel on white cardstock and cut the layers from the ink blended panel. It's the perfect way to get just the right color without having oodles of different colored cardstocks!
Second Look
I always do two different looks with a sketch, so for my second design, I went for a die-cut shaker. I was able to use the outline die to create the shaker hole, and then used the typical acetate and foam strip technique to create the window. By omitting the second die layer, I was able to create a few see-through areas with the two detail layers added on top of the acetate.
To keep that wispy see-through look, I omitted the bottom layers on the leaves. And, to give the leaves and flower an integrated look, I arranged the leaves on the card, and then used the flower outline die to cut off the areas that would overlap. Then, when I added them onto the card, they were cut perfectly to look like they are tucked behind the flower!
Of course, to watch the play-by-play and get some additional tips on the die and these two shaker card styles, check out the latest Sketch Starter video!
