Color Therapy Blog Hop + Giveaway

Color Therapy Blog Hop GraphicWelcome to our Color Therapy Blog Hop!

Life can get stressful and many people find coloring to be the best therapy! This blog hop features projects from fantastic designers, all colored with our Artist Markers, Watercolor Brush Markers, Watercolor 36 Pan Set, Metallic Watercolors, or Ink Sprays!

Altenew is collaborating with the amazing Kathy Racoosin from The Daily Marker to inspire crafters to find joy through coloring. Kathy is celebrating her 14th “30 Day Coloring Challengeuntil the end of November 2019. Please participate in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge by coloring something, then share it on social media using the hashtag #thedailymarker30day. We hope you find “Me Time” and enjoy the benefits that coloring will give!

Kathy is insanely talented and I tried to channel my inner Kathy with this project (although I know my skills don't quite meet hers!). Some of the designers on the hop are sharing works-in-progress, which is what I have here:

DSC 0563 small DSC 0567 smallDSC 0565 smallMy preferred coloring medium is watercolor, but I went outside of my comfort zone this time by using Artist Markers. Would you believe I spent over 2 hours just coloring a flower and two leaves?! Is that because I'm still a bit of an alcohol marker newbie, or is that how long it takes for everyone?

The flower and leaves are from the Wispy Begonia Stamp Set, and I stamped them out with Permanent Black Ink so the lines wouldn't bleed. I plan on die-cutting these out and using them on a future project!

PRIZES

Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 5 lucky winners and Kathy from The Daily Maker is also giving away a 5”x7” original watercolor artwork (including a custom frame). Please leave a comment here on the Altenew Card Blog by 11/22/2019 for a chance to win.

We’ll also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 11/24/2019.

I don’t know about the time frame for alcohol markers, as I only have a few of them. However, for me, pencils can definitely take that long! As a novice, I attempt to work with colored pencils (mostly), but am also working on learning watercolors; eventually hope to do more with the markers. For me, it’s almost as therapeutic WATCHING someone color/paint, as it is to DO.

Lovely job on the flowers and leaves! Thank you for sharing your talents.

I wish I could answer your question but I don’t use alcohol markers at all. I feel like the only crafter who doesn’t.

Love the way these markers blend! Going to have to add them to my stash. ?

Reply

The colours are so rich & your blending is fabulous. I only have a few Copics & haven’t really used them as I’m kind of intimidated by them. I’m not a good colourer yet as I need lots more practice, but watching videos about it is definitely helping me learn.

I think it can take a while to get the perfect shades of color. I am new to this too and it took me quite some time to color prettily. Love your card.

I prefer water colors and colored pencils, so do not own alcohol markers(yet)! Your flower and leaves look beautiful and I think it doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as you’re coloring! :)

I can color for hours, I like to do the coloring per project so I can finish it, although I do tend to do extra for future projects. There are so many mediums, I am experimenting with them all, the layering stamps have given me so much inspiration to try and obtain the depth on my own. Your coloring is gorgeous.
