Hello there, are you ready for a new Inspiration Challenge? It's Michelle here and I am excited to be hosting the challenge this month with a color combination inspired by nature. My inspiration photo was taken last spring and features beautiful Nemesia growing in my garden.
Although there is no need to, I decided to be very literal with my approach to the challenge and as soon as I saw the Pleasant Pansy 3D Die Set, I knew I wanted to use it for my card today, as they look so similar to Nemesia. I also found that by using a color combination inspired by nature, I got out of my comfort zone!

Layering Up Flowers and Leaves
I started off my card by die cutting the Pleasant Pansy 3D Die Set from Gradient Cardstock. I used New Purple Gradient Cardstock Set for the main flowers, adding in a layer of white cardstock, as well as the center being cut from the lightest shade in the Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock Set.
The layers were adhered one on top of another using 2 in 1 Precision Glue Pen. For the leaves, I decided to just cut the layers from the middle shade in the Green Meadows Gradient Cardstock Set and layer them up. Even though it is one flat color, I still like the effect!

Using Tag Dies in a Different Way
I wanted to create a focal point for my flowers to sit on. Ordinarily, I would add them to a tag but this time, I wanted to use the tag in a different way. I die cut one of the largest tags from the Terrific Tag Die Set from white cardstock. I cut the top off and used it as a banner on my card.
Color Combination Inspired by Nature
I took Sunray Crisp Dye Ink and using a Small Ink Blending Tool, I blended ink onto the banner, concentrating most of the color towards the top and fading to white at the bottom. I would usually gravitate towards blue or purple for this, but because of the inspiration photo, I wanted to add more of the yellow. If the flowers didn't have that yellow, my card would have looked very different. I am so glad that my color combination was inspired by nature today!

Creating the Focal Point
The banner was adhered to a 4″ x 5.5″ white card base with Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I made the card base narrower so that I could have one of the leaves overhanging the card base, but the card still fit into a standard-sized envelope.
The leaves were adhered next using Glue Tape, followed by the flowers. I took the sentiment from the Sentiment Strips Stamp Set and stamped it onto white cardstock with Obsidian Pigment Ink. It was cut into a strip and added to the card with more Instant Dimension Foam Tape and Glue Tape. To finish off, I added Pocketful of Sunshine Enamel Dots to bring the card together. I really love this color combination and will definitely use it again!
