Sweet Jasmine

Representing love and beauty, the jasmine is a fragrant bloom that has many uses in different cultures. The 4″ x 6″ Sweet Jasmine Stamp Set honors the jasmine with a cluster of blooms, buds, and leaves. Seven sentiments, in a modern font pairing, perfectly complement the arrangement. The Sweet Jasmine Simple Coloring Stencil Set (3 in 1) can be inked on its own, or with the coordinating stamp set, press plate set, or 3D embossing folder!

Creating a Lovely Greeting Card for Mum with the Eclipse Technique and the Sweet Jasmine Set

I started off my card by cutting the two top corners off of a 4.25″ x 5.5″ panel of Classic Crest 110 lb Solar White Cardstock to create a tag shape. I then stamped the Sweet Jasmine image on top using Obsidian Pigment Ink.

I took the Sweet Jasmine Simple Coloring Stencils and using a Sticky Mat to hold them in place, I added ink blending on top to color the image.

This week we are celebrating all things love-related! Because of this, I wanted to make a card for my mum to let her know how much I love and appreciate her.

The great thing about card making is that you can customize cards to suit the recipient. In my case, my mum not only loves flowers, but she also loves the color purple, so that is what I wanted to use today!

I added blending to the flower petals with Enchanted Garden Crisp Dye Inks (the three lightest shades) and used Green Valley Crisp Dye Inks for the leaves (all four shades).

I used Golden Sunset Fresh Dye Inks (Sunray and Chamomile) for the flower centers. For each section, I used a Mini Blending Brush and focused the darker color toward the center of the flowers.

Eclipse Technique

Since I am making this card for my mum, I wanted to add the word ‘mum' somewhere. I thought about adding it in white letters on top of the image, but I did not want to obscure any of it. This is where the eclipse technique comes in!

I took the ‘M' and ‘U' letters from the Fine Alphabet Die Set and cut those into the panel, keeping the letters that were popped out safe.

I added a Double-Sided Adhesive Sheet to the back of Classic Crest 110lb Solar White Cardstock and die cut another 6 ‘M's and 3 ‘U's. I adhered one on top of another to create dimensional letters.

I adhered the panel to the card base that I made (with the same tag shape) using Glue Tape. The dimensional letters were then adhered on top, fitting in like puzzle pieces.

The stamped letters were adhered on top of those, using liquid glue. This completes the eclipse look.

I love this technique! The word is hidden but you can still see it! Just like a solar eclipse! It is the perfect way to add a larger sentiment without obscuring the beautiful flowers!

I stamped an accompanying sentiment from the Soft Blossoms Stamp Set onto black cardstock using Embossing Ink. I applied Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder and heat set. It was cut into a strip and adhered onto the card using Instant Dimension Foam Tape.

To finish off, I embellished it with Crystal Clear Gem Sparkles.

I absolutely love making cards for my mum! She always appreciates the work that goes into them and it is so nice to be able to show her my love by doing so!

I hope I have inspired you to try the eclipse technique. It is a really fun one! You can watch the full process video below or on YouTube.

It’s the season of love, so let’s spread the warm fuzzy feels! Which family member would you give/create a card this season?

Thank you so much for stopping by, I hope you have a wonderful day!

I really need to try this technique! It’s such a cool look, and I love that it keeps you from having to cover the pretty focal point!

Love the technique you did on this beautiful tag card for your Mum. Purple was a beautiful color choice for the flowers. Love the tag card. Your cards are always beautiful.
