Blossom Wreath Cards, 2 Ways

Hi there, Altenew friends!  Norine back with you today with a couple of cards to share with you!  The Blossom Wreath Stamp Set was released recently and I've been anxious to give it a run!  Because the dies were briefly delayed, it's take me until now.  But they're in stock now and ready for you to click “add to cart!”

The Blossom Wreath Stamp Set actually has layering images too, but today I used only the outline image to stamp and used Artist Markers to color them in.

Lets get started!

For my first card, I kept the stamping and coloring monochromatic, stamping with Moss ink, then coloring with the green markers in Set E.

For the background on this card I blended Forest Glade ink through the Buffalo Plaid Builder Stencil, stenciling first with the stencil in the horizontal position, then flipping the stencil over to the “back” side, lining up the diagonal stripes and stenciling again vertically.  Where the stripes matched up from the front side to the back side, the color has twice the intensity, just like actual plaid fabric does.

Then I stenciled the double lines of stripes by laying down the Classy Stripes Stencil and taping off the lines on either side of the two I wanted to use.  The positioning of the lines on the stencil matches perfectly with the dimensions of the plaid stencil.  Once more, I stenciled first horizontally, then vertically, doubling the intensity where the first and second stencil blending overlapped.

To assemble the card, I die cut the wreath with the coordinating die then adhered some foam tape to the backside of the wreath to add some dimension, then adhering it to the plaid card panel.  I die cut the “hello” from white cardstock using the Hello & Hugs dies, then silhouette die from black cardstock and adhered the two together and then to the front of the wreath.

I stamped a greeting from the Sentiment Strips Stamp Set with embossing ink on vellum paper, and heat set with Platinum embossing powder.  I trimmed the strip long enough to fold around the edges of the wreath, then fold back to create a banner.  I hand cut the fish tail ends and glued the banner on the back side of the wreath.  A few rhinestone gems complete the card.

For card number two, I played with some rainbow stamping!  A MISTI stamping positioner tool makes this technique a breeze.  With my stamp and cardstock in place in the MISTI, I used a rainbow assortment of Crisp Dye Inks to stamp each color in turn.  Starting with Heart Beat red (and using the mini ink pads) I stamped a portion of the stamp and pressed it down.  I cleaned the stamp before re-inking with Marigold ink and stamped it to very slightly overlap the previously stamped red ink.

Continuing around the wreath with Chamomile, Olive, Teal Cave, Ultramarine, Sapphire and finally Ultraviolet ink, I cleaned the stamp between each stamping and slightly overlapped the color with the previous stamping for a perfect rainbow blend.  Then I used corresponding Artist Marker colors to color in the leaves on the wreath.

I then repeated stamping with all the same colors of ink, using two of the small leaf stamp images from the Perfectly Perfect  Stamp Set, coloring them in with the same corresponding artist markers as I used on the wreath and cutting them out by hand as I didn't have the matching dies.

Again, I popped up the wreath with some foam tape on the back, adhered it to the card, and then tucked the loose leaves underneath to add bulk to the wreath.  Before adhering the rainbow wreath to the card base, I placed it in the position I wanted and put a greeting stamp where it would perfectly fit.  The greeting sentiment is from the Wavy Roses Stamp Set and I stamped with Obsidian Black ink.  After the wreath and leaves were all glued in place, I embellished with a variety of sizes of matching enamel dots on the wreath.  A very Clean and Simple design with a lot of impact!
