Hello, everyone and welcome to our April Guest Designer post!

We have an awesome treat for you today! We have the incredible Justine Hovey as our April Guest Designer and she will be sharing some amazingly beautiful projects with you. But let's get to know her first!

Justine Hovey profile

Hi, everyone! Justine here. I am a cardmaker by night and elementary school teacher by day. In order to combine my two passions, I enjoy teaching cardmaking over on my YouTube channel and blog. I am currently living in Northern Canada. I enjoy crafting during long winter days, curling up with a cup of tea, and reading a good book.

Let’s start ogling at Justine’s marvelous projects!

Layering stencils are so innovative for adding texture to your cards and create some very stunning textures. I’m always looking for new ways to get the most out of my products, so I thought I would try using some of the new sprays from Altenew Pure White and Antique Gold Metallic along with some Transfer Gel for the second layer in order to foil on top of the spray.

Justine Hovey Photo 2A great gold ink is difficult to find on the market, not only that, it is usually pigment-based so it requires heat setting and can be messy. This pigment spray solved all those problems. You get a beautiful shine without the mess if you spray inside a box. It also dries very quickly so you’re able to throw on another layer very quickly. I added a layer of Transfer Gel and set it aside for an hour.

Justine Hovey Photo 3I can never get enough of gold, so I foiled in gold as well with my laminator. Now you have two very shiny layers of gold that are very different. The result is very textured and elegant. I topped the card off with a Thank You sentiment from the Sincere Greetings Stamp Set.

Justine Hovey Photo 4I’m always looking for masculine card ideas. Sometimes the men in our lives deserve handmade cards too that aren’t floral (sounds simple… but we all know it isn’t). I used the Weave Builder Stencil to spray some white onto black cardstock. After it dried, I used the Transfer Gel to foil in silver this time. I left the top of the weave black and it really looks three-dimensional. I added a very simple Happy Birthday from the Sincere Greetings Stamp Set to finish off the card.

Wow. We are simply in awe of these projects!

How stunning are Justine’s cards?! We absolutely loved them! We hope you enjoyed Justine’s projects as much as we did. Make sure to visit her blog and don’t forget to send her some love.
