Project Inspiration
I'm excited to be featuring a Paint-A-Flower set again as part of my Stylish Cardmaking Techniques with Jenny video series. I featured the African Daisy in September, with a simple way to use the Paint-A-Flower without painting. Today, I AM doing a little painting, but it is super easy – I promise!
Easy Watercoloring With Paint-A-Flower Sweet Pea
To start off, I grabbed a panel of A2 Watercolor Paper. This is smooth and great for heat embossing. I used my MISTI and stamped the Paint-A-Flower Sweet Pea repeatedly with Embossing Ink, rotating to interlock the images, and cover the entire panel in sweet peas! I added Golden Peach Crisp Embossing Powder and heated it with a heat tool between each move. Be sure to use a powder tool each time to avoid embossing powder sticking where you don't want it.

How to watercolor:
To color the images, I used the Spring Garden Watercolor Brush Markers. I used the Rubellite brush directly onto the image, circling it around the center, and then pulling out that color within the flower with a wet brush. I used plenty of water on my brush and left it to wick out the color, to get that more natural look.
I used Limeade on the stems directly coloring on the paper, without water, then added a touch of Evergreen for shading, scribbling it onto a Watercolor Palette, adding water then applying it with a damp brush. I repeated this technique again for the centers, using Warm Sunshine and shading with Autumn Blaze. Next, I outlined the entire piece with a pale wash of Sea Breeze, scribbling the color onto the Watercolor Palette, adding lots of water, and filling in the gaps on my panel. Before it dried, I added splatters of Rubellite. I finished with a couple of fine spritzes of Pure White Ink Spray to add texture.

Adding a sentiment
For my sentiment, I used Vellum Translucent Paper, backed with a Double-Sided Adhesive Sheet. Then, I die cut it with the Mega Hello Die and adhered to my watercolored panel. I adhered this with some colored blue fun foam to a white notecard. The vellum is very subtle but I love how you can see through it to the background which is the star of the show. I added a sub-sentiment from the Paint-A-Flower Sweet Pea Outline Stamp Set, stamped in Obsidian Pigment Ink, and popped up on foam tape. A few Satin White Sequins finished my piece!
