Hello, Altenew friends! Norine here with the blog hop post for a very special release! We're excited to bring you a new product with today's release, and we have an extensive round-up of artists joining us for the blog hop to celebrate! The Paint-A-Flower: Sunflower Outline Stamp Set is the latest in our monthly release and the October offering of sunflowers is both timely and beautiful. Even better, we have a brand-new category coming out today: the Woodless Watercolor Pencils!
In case you thought your watercoloring collection couldn't get any better, think again. Create stunning watercolor effects with our Woodless Watercolor Pencils!
This set includes a wide range of beautiful, vibrant colors, and each pencil comes pre-sharpened and ready to use. You can either apply the color onto paper and blend with a wet brush, or pick it up with the brush directly from the pencil. The pigment dissolves smoothly, leaving no marks on the paper, and the colors can be easily mixed and layered for various effects.
(**Estimated product availability/order shipping date for the Woodless Watercolor Pencil 24 Pen Set: November 12th, 2020. Please sign up for a back in stock notification email so you know once it's back in stock.**)

Projects with Products from Today's Release
One of the things I love most about watercolor pencils is how they remove some of the stress of watercolor painting. Typically, with water, pigment, and any amount of space, time is a factor, or the water dries and the paint doesn't flow and blend as nicely anymore. So, I began by stamping with Obsidian Pigment Ink, then coloring the image from start to finish before even picking up a brush.
I love the ability to mix and blend the colors too. For example, I colored each of the leaves with all four of the green colors, laying down color in a patchy manner, concentrating the darker shades at the base of the leaf or where it was shaded from being tucked under petals. Then, I used a paint brush to introduce water to the pigment, letting it dissolve and blend together.
For the background, I lightly colored the areas with a variety of colors in the set, overlapping from shade to shade and lightly crosshatching to cover each area. For the larger open areas of the background, I used a larger paint brush with a little more water to let more color blend over the area before it dried. If there were any areas where I wanted more pigment, I could simply touch the wet paint brush to the tip of the pencil and pick up more color directly.
Once I was finished with the coloring and the paint was dry, I splattered more paint by brushing a fairly wet brush over the tip of a few of the pencils and tapping the brush against my finger. I combined two of the sentiment stamps to create the “you are my sunshine” greeting and adhered two strips of coordinating patterned papers along the bottom to complete the card.
