Stylish Cardmaking Techniques with Jenny | Video Tutorial
My new cardmaking video series, Stylish Cardmaking Techniques with Jenny, airs every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, What better time could there be to focus on the Paint-A-Flowers?
I'm featuring two cards today that both use heat embossing with the Paint-A-Flower: African Daisy stamp along with focused ink blending to create a vignette that adds depth and drama. I've created this look several cards before, and it's super easy, with stunning results. You can repeatedly heat emboss the image to fit with whatever the shape or size of your card.

1. Used Colored Cardstock
My first tip for creating the vignette look are to select a colored cardstock slightly lighter than your expected finished look. I've chosen teal and hot pink, but you can get this effect with any cardstock.

2. Edge with Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink
For ink blending, I always use a color similar to the color of the cardstock, but darker. And for that added depth, I always finish with Jet Black Crisp Dye Ink. The heat embossing resists the ink, and you can buff it with a cloth to recover that shine.

3. Step It Up With Splatters
Before adding your sentiment, you can add splatters if you want a little more interest. For my teal card, I used my favorite ‘starry sky' combo added splatters with water, Iridescent Shimmer Ink Spray and Pure White Ink Spray. I heat embossed the sentiment (from the previous Paint-A-Flower: Fashion Monger Dahlia Outline Stamp Set). For my pink card, I used Antique Gold Metallic Ink Spray. The sentiment was stamped directly to the panel in Obsidian Pigment Ink. Of course, I finished with sequins for an extra pop of glam!

Love this daisy stamp.
Absolutely stunning cards! I love all the painted flower stamps & this one is no exception! Cant wait to color it with my colored pencils!!
Decided to subscribe today – and the African Daisy is one of my favorite flowers so what a perfect start!!! I think I’ll be giving this technique a try though I cringe at the thought of using the black around the edges. I just don’t think my skills are there yet – I can just see me dropping the black right in the middle of my work. Murphy is my constant companion it seems.
Beautiful cards— the design is so pretty on the dark card stock.
I love these flowers. I think they are great to color in with watercolor paint.
