Altenew October 2017 Inspiration Challenge

by Lydia Evans

Hi there everyone and happy Sunday! Lydia here with you for the October 2017 Inspiration Challenge.

This month I have taken inspiration from around my craftroom and projects I had created in the past. I do think that we can get a lot of inspiration CASEing old projects and themes.

So here's the inspiration:

Inspiration Challenge 2017 10

There are a lot of elements that can be taken from this. From the colors, layout of the card, stamp set used or even the wood in the background.

So here's what I came up with using this inspiration photo:

Altenew Ranunculas Lydia Evans 1I decided on the same flower from Build-A-Flower Ranunculus. I just love the size and detail of the bloom and when you just used the three layers without the outline it makes it look so much softer. The colors I used for the flowers are Blush, Peach Perfect and Rouge Crisp Inks. For the leaves I wanted a brighter combo, as with the bunch of flowers to the left of the inspiration, so I went with Bamboo and Olive Crisp Inks.

October Inspiration Challenge 1To create the flower cluster I stamped one flower onto my card base and another onto a separate piece of cardstock and cut out using the matching die in the set. I masked out the flower on the card layer before stamping the leaves. Once I was happy with the placement of the leaves I removed the mask and added in the second flower with foam tape for added dimension.

For the sentiment I cut out the ‘hello' from Blooming Bouquet Dies from specialty Birch Wood paper. I also cut some small hearts using the small die set that is included in the New Day Card Kit from the same wood paper. The sentiment was added on the popped up bloom also with a little foam tape, and the hearts were scattered around.

October Inspiration Challenge 2To finish I added the stamped panel onto some Blush cardstock before adding it to my card base.

I can't wait to see how you have been inspired by the October 2017 Inspiration Challenge!
