Hello, Altenew friends! This is Virginia here. Did you know that we have an Altenew Educator Certification Program (AECP)? We started this program back in December 2017. Within this short time, we now have 11 ( and counting) Altenew Certified Educators! These talented and hard-working educators started from Level 1 and worked all their way up to Level 3. They passed 3 final challenges and successfully conducted an Altenew card-making workshop (observed by our team members).
You can find out more about the program here. Today we are celebrating the certified Altenew Educators with a special blog hop! There are prizes (of course), so be sure to hop along for inspiration and creative ideas.
We asked our educators to share their “favorites”. They can be their favorite card-making styles, Altenew products, favorite techniques, etc. As the Coordinator of the AECP since day 1, I am kicking it off here with my latest favorite medium – watercolors! With Altenew's Watercolor Brush Markers, anyone can color like a pro!
For the background, I used Metallic Silver Brush Markers from the Winter Wonderland Set. After adhering Flowing Butterfly Stencil with a piece of Washi Tape, I could then easily apply the brush marker over the stencil. See the gorgeous metallic shine!?
I colored the Delicate Primrose with a mix of colors. This is the fun part of playing with the Watercolor Brush Markers. You will be amazed at how the colors mix and how you get unexpectedly rich gorgeous colors!
I used the paper from the Our Family 12×12 Patterned Paper Collection for the card base. The subtle green stripes provide just the right amount of color and interest.
Interested in becoming an Altenew Certified Educator? Please apply here. If you have additional photos of your Altenew projects, you can send them to aecp@altenew.com for review. We hope that you will help us spread some Altenew love!

This is lovely with the silver in the background. I love the idea of the watercolor brush markers and I’m trying to rationalize owning more watercolors! LOL! :)
I LOVE when I find a project that uses all the items that I have in my stash. Then I can see how close I can come to your finished product. It’s time for me to give this one a whirl!

Virginia, your work is always inspiring! Great program as well!
I have watched this series from your new educators three times and cannot possibly pick a “winner”” if I had to! The styles are so diverse and each one is beautiful in its’ own right. I learned something new from each one which make the “reruns” a delight. Be proud, ladies, as your work is well worth your time and energy!
Very pretty card! I love that butterfly background!
I love your watercolored flowers. The one with pink and yellow is gorgeous. This is a great hop. I always enjoy great inspiration.
Beautiful card. I love how the flowers pop amidst the grey background.
Pretty card, Virginia! You are so very kind to say anyone can color with the new brush markers. lol I would love to try them, though!
It’s a really beautiful card. I love the colors and the butterfly backgrounds.
Beautiful card!
Love how you used the butterfly for the background.
Very pretty coloring of the the flowers and I like how you made the butterfly background.
Beautiful card – I agree that the watercolors are vibrant and easy to use.
Your card is beautiful. The watercoloring is perfect!! I just started using watercolors. I’m curious as to what the difference really is between using the Altenew watercolors in the pan vs using their watercolor marker brushes. I see that your colors are very vivid. Maybe that’s the difference??
Hi Elizabeth, the difference is that you can mix your own colors with the 36 Watercolor Pan Set. The Watercolor Brush Markers provide an instant and vibrant color mix (can be diluted with water for lighter color) when applied. All colors are perfectly matched with Altenew Ink. Hope this helps. :)
Gorgeous card! I love the silver butterflies in the background.
OMG, love these!
LOVE your hops – I always find so much inspiration in them:)
Wow, this is just gorgeous!!
Beautiful card! I enjoy seeing all the wonderful creations!
Virginia, your card is stunning. Love the very subtle background and those flowers then just pop off the page. Beautiful. TFS.
