Project Inspiration

0812021 PK Lush Garden

I have been using an abundance of pink lately, so I thought I'd try some sunny yellow for today's project! For some reason, August automatically makes me think of golden yellow and burnt orange. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the crops surrounding my Midwestern town are starting to dry out and turn yellow and brown. I began my project by using the stencils in the Lush Garden kit on some plain white cardstock to create the solid backgrounds for the layered stamped images.

The kit contents work together seamlessly to give you so many different options for creating! The solid, open stencils act as the first layer for your multi-layered stamps, but I was able to stretch my four inks from the Pocketful of Sunshine ink quartet by lightly blending the lightest color with my stencil to create the base layer for the larger blooms from the Lush Garden stamp set, then stamping the layers with the three lightest colors in the group, saving the darkest color for the flower center.

I stenciled and stamped the smaller flowers with the same Pocketful of Sunshine inks, but stenciled the lightest layer with the lightest shade and then stamped with the three darkest colors to create more intense yellow flowers.

I stamped the foliage from the Lush Garden stamp set using the lighter shades of the Warm Gray ink quartet. Once I had stamped all of the components, I die cut them with the coordinating dies included in the Lush Garden kit. I love that you have the option to add an extra layer of color with the solid stencils, or you can allow the stamped layers to have super intense highlights by stamping just the details on the white cardstock!

I also used the layered blending stencil included in the Lush Garden kit to blend some orange “filler” flowers using the Golden Sunset ink quartet. Because there are no coordinating dies for this floral cluster, I used my sharp scissors to fussy cut the floral cluster.

For the card base, I wanted to take advantage of the giant, detailed bouquet in the 3D embossing folder included in the Lush Garden kit, so I cut a slimline card base (3.5″ x 8.5″) from some plain white cardstock, and then selectively embossed opposite corners of the long card base. I love the subtle, detailed texture that this adds to the card base!

The edge of the embossing folder did cause a bit of a crease on the card base, but once I arranged and adhered the stamped, die cut florals on the card base, you'd never know it was there. I used Instant Dimension Foam Tape to add lots of dimension to the card front, adding a greeting from the Sentiment Strips Stamp Set over the top of the floral arrangement. The final step was to add some warm rose gold gems (to pick up the warm tones in the stamped images) for a touch of sparkle!

Well, that's all for my project today! Now, for some fun giveaway information!
