Hi everyone! Svitlana here, and I'm so thrilled to kick off this special blog hop celebrating your fave crafting adhesives. Welcome to the Sticky Essentials Blog Hop and Giveaway! Make sure you hop along to get lots of inspiration and a chance to win $300 worth of prizes!
Today, I want to share a Christmas card made by implementing a couple of my favorite techniques and using wonderful sticky adhesives from Altenew.
The masking technique is a bit more time-consuming, but the result is always worth it.
I applied this technique to create a one-layer design of overlapping poinsettia and holly berry elements. I also cheated a bit, so cutting masks for this card wasn't very difficult.
Holiday Card Project with Altenew Adhesives
I used the Poinsettia & Berries Stamp Set to create the one-layer design for my card.
First, I stamped the lighter poinsettia using Cotton Candy and Coral Berry Dye Inks. After that, I stamped the poinsettia outline image onto a sheet of Masking Paper, cut it out with my scissors, and adhered to the stamped image.
Then, I stamped the second poinsettia using Coral Berry and Ruby Red Dye Inks. I also masked off the second poinsettia using Masking Paper.
Next, I stamped the holly berry leaves around the stamped and masked off poinsettias using the Ruby Red, Espresso, Lagoon, and Emerald Dye Inks.
I wanted to make the background non-white, but also, I didn't want to fussy cut masks for all the holly leaves. So I “cheated” by ink blending the same inks that I used to stamp the leaves – Lagoon and Emerald Dye Inks.
I blended them around the panel edges using the Large Blending Tool. As I was blending, I tried not to blend over the red berries as they weren't masked off. Overall it worked out fine, not having areas just around the poinsettias left white.
To bring more interest to the background, I also added Pure White and Antique Gold Ink Spray splatters.
To make the sentiment, I used the Christmas Season Die Set. I die-cut each word of the sentiment out of a Citrine sheet from the Gilded Glitter Cardstock Set and five times out of a dark red cardstock. Before die-cutting each piece, I first applied Double Sided Adhesives onto the back side of the cardstock, so all die-cut elements have a sticky back. This really helps build up the dimensional sentiments.
I stacked all corresponding pieces – placing the glitter ones on top. After that, they were adhered to the card.
Next, I foam-mounted the panel onto a white card base using one of Altenew's bestselling adhesives — the Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
To accentuate the card, I added several gold confetti. I hope you got inspired to use your favorite craft adhesives and hop along with us!

Svitlana’s cards are always beautiful!
Lovely projects as always! Good adhesives can make or break a card project so I’ve learned (the hard way lol) to make sure I have some good ones on hand!
Mistakes really are great teachers!

Haha we’re glad you noticed that!
Thanks for sharing great cards. Very inspirational
Wow! I feel that adhesives are really important too because I want the card to last and not have stuff fall out from the card when the recipient opens it! :) I saw this mega foam tape roll and thought that is cool!
Loveliest poinsettia cards with lively and beautiful color shading. Favorite go to adhesives are foam tapes/strips and quick mounting squares for permanence and dimension. I find myself in sticky situations when crafting all the time so having dependable options is a key factor!
Such a lovely poinsettia card! How cool to do a whole blog hop on adhesives! It would be so great to have a roll if that foam tape!
I enjoy the step by step, my go to adhesive is double sided tape and liquid glue and to make things pop foam squares…
This is such a beautiful Christmas card.
I love all of these cards! :)
What a great idea!! Cannot wait to try these techniques.
