Hello Altenew friends! This is Virginia here. I don't think I have ever shared one layer cards here before. Well, today is it! I have a love of creating one layer cards. The reasons? First, it is mail-friendly and no extra postage required. Secondly, one layer card is clean and concise and conveys the sentiment perfectly. Last but certainly not the least, it is just plain fun to create! To me, stamping one layer cards makes me to be a better stamper. I have to go that extra “mile” (inch in this case ) to make the card shine!
I am using Watercolor Extravaganza for my card. This solid stamp set is perfect for beginners and expert stampers. The lining up is very forgiving. Even when you are not perfectly lined up with the stamps, it makes an unique and artistic design!
I started out stamping the top left corner. The fun part of this process is also mixing up the colors and shades. I highly encourage you to go beyond your regular sets and mix other colors into your floral designs.
For example, I used many colors for the flower petals ( Pastel Sunrise, Canyon Clay), Center( Vanilla Cream, Honey Drizzle, Antique Gold Pigment Ink, Sicilian Amber) and leaves (Butternut, Marshland and Bamboo).
After stamping the flowers, it looked pretty good already. Now what? I decided to add a subtle framed corner (Simple Frame Masked Stencil) at the bottom. Unfortunately, I left a fine brownish line on the right. This was a “mistake”! However, I didn't want to start a new card and proceeded to stamp more leaves. This makes the lines look intentional! Problem solved.
One thing to note is to “keep an open mind and revise as you go” when stamping a one layer. If you do that, you will have a great time learning about placement, balance and composition. Thank you so much for stopping by!

This is such a pretty, cheerful card! I love the colours you chose. Virginia, you are just sooooo talented ♥️🧡💛
Love this card, Virginia! I am a ‘frightened’ watercolor person, which means I am afraid to do it. Even though I’ve bought several watercolor sets! Your card and explanation has given me the inspiration to give it a go! Thank you!
It’s a gorgeous card , Virginia, and you have given us nice, clear and
easy to understand instructions! Now all we have to do is follow them!!!
I thought the inner frame was totally intentional, and thought “how clever”!
Virginia this is really pretty! The warm colors of pastel sunrise and canyon clay create a soothing and calming combination. I like the stamped edge on card too, pulls everything together. Thanks for sharing your one layer card.
Beautiful card! The colors you chose are so pretty together. Reminds me that I need to use the Martian Terrain ink set more often. The background is lovely and adds depth to your one layer card. Love the glittery look of the flower center.
Gosh! Your card is gorgeous!! Can’t believe that you made a mistake because it all looks intentional! You inspire me!
