Add Depth and Textures with “Night Before Christmas”

by Virginia Lu

Hello Altenew friends! This is Virginia here! Are you getting into Christmas card-making yet? The new “Night Before Christmas” Stamp and Die Bundle is perfect for stampers of any level. You can make it very clean and simple. You can also enhance the design with extra details and elaborate embellishments. Dare I say that this set is also uber trendy?

First of all, let's talk about the colors! The solid stamps are perfect for multi-color stamping. I did use a stamp positioner to ink up the tree.  However, you can still achieve this look simply by inking up the stamp on the acrylic block one color at at time. The Crisp Dye Inks I used are (from top to bottom): Fresh Lemon, Warm Sunshine, Sun Kissed , Rose Quartz, Puffy Heart, Purple Wine, Sea Breeze, Persian Blue, Mountain Mist, Volcano Lake, Soft Lilac and Deep Iris.

The Night Before Christmas Die Set makes it super easy to add depth. I stacked and adhered 3 tree dies underneath the stamped image and achieved the instant 3D effect. Next, I added textures by using Halftone Stencil with white embossing paste. Altenew stencils are awesome  for adding that extra dimensions and textures. Tiny Bubbles Stencil is another great option for creating a snowy background.

Extra tips: Once you have the stacked die, ink it up with Veramark and emboss it with Crystal Clear Crisp Embossing Powder. This way, you get a sturdy and shiny DIY chipboard! OR, you can emboss the edges with Pure White Crisp Embossing Powder for the snowy effect! Of course, do have fun embellishing your design with sequins and strings! I hope today's post inspires you to create! Thanks so much for your feedback and comments!

Gorgeous rainbow tree. So fun and unexpected…as always, beautifully embellished by Virginia’s skilled hand. Terrific texture with the stencilled embossing paste, as well.

Beautiful! Love the colours and the textured background! I haven’t used embossing paste yet but I did just get some so I am going to give it a try. I always ink the edges of the cardstock as I find it adds dimension to my cards and on occasion I’ve done the EP on the edges too.
