Hello, Altenew friends! This is Virginia here. It gives me great joy to share my love of cover dies. There are many kinds of dies in the market and cover dies are one of the most popular kinds. They give instant and beautiful results! What's not to love? I am sharing a fun twist using cover dies! Perhaps this will help jump-start your creativity and re-discover ways of using cover dies.
I am using Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover Dies as my example. I started out by creating a super colorful watercolor paper.
This was made easy thanks to Altenew's Liquid Watercolor Brush Refills. You can use any Altenew Watercolor medium ( Watercolor Brush Markers or the Altenew Watercolor 36 Pan Set).
It is always fun to create your own colorful paper as you can never duplicate the exact colors every time. The key to successful mixing is to let each color dry and add another colored layer. There is no right or wrong in this. It all depends on how much saturation you want in your paper. I do find it helpful to spray a tiny bit of water to facilitate the color mix and dab away the unwanted brown spots with a piece of paper towel on hand.
Once the paper is dry, I ran the Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover Die through the die-cut machine. This resulted gorgeous dotty textures. I then cut the Gold Foil Cardstock to the same size as the watercolor paper and die cut it. I cut out the middle sections of the gold paper and adhered it over the cardstock with foam tape.
The stamped Build-A-Flower: Hellebore was then added over the Gold Foil Cardstock. I then stamped the sentiment (“Simply the Best “) in Obsidian Pigment Ink.
I love the continuity that the Dotted Swirls Debossing Cover Die gives. The debossed gold paper really adds that WOW factor to the vibrant textured background. I hope today's post gives you some inspiration with your cover dies. Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Hellebore flower looks lovely with your beautiful watercolored background. Love all the texture that the Dotted Swirls die adds to the bright colors. What a great idea to use the same cover die on the gold foiled paper! It adds such a nice touch to the card.
