Wonderful! I’ve been inspired by so many of these but haven’t managed to complete any – it’s so nice to be able to use those earlier ideas to create for this! Thanks so much for all the inspiration by the team this year!!!!

I am being way too BOLD here, asking a stupid question of experts who obviously have better things to do than ANSWER stupid questions, but here goes:

Can anyone suggest where I can find a “Beginner’s Guide to Blog Hops”???

And when I say Beginner, I mean BEGINNER! I’ve been stamping and card-making for over 20 years, starting out with SU! and expanding from there and I DO know a few things here and there. Lol. But blog hops have always eluded me and I’ve never found anything that explains how to get started! My first problem is that I don’t keep a blog and given the phrase, “blog hop,” I’ve always assumed I needed one. But maintaining a blog, in order to simply join an occasional blog hop, seemed like way too much, unrelated, work.

However, I am SO in love with Altenew, that I really would love to get more involved. Do I REALLY need a blog? Do people ever start blogs JUST to participate in blog hops?

If anyone can point me in the right direction for a beginner’s tutorial, I would be forever grateful … I’m hoping that even old dogs can learn new tricks!

TIA,

Gay Engelberger

Hi Gay,
I don’t know if there is such a thing as a beginners guide to a blog hop but I can give you a quick explanation. Blog Hops are often associated with a shop / online store or just a group of people gathering together to promote a cause / event. The people creating for the blog hops are the ones that you are following / ‘hopping’ along with, so you actualy do not need a blog at all to do this. Each blog will link to the next blog along the hop. This means that you should be able to click on the next person’s name usually found at the end of the blog post and it should take you directly to the next person along the ‘hop’. Many blog hops actually encourage you to leave comments and sometimes this gives you a chance to win a prize, often a gift certificate which is so much fun.
I never had a blog for a long time and would happily hop along and comment, although some blogs are easier to leave comments if you have a google login or something like that.
If you want to join something like our Inspiration Challenge here then you still do not need a blog, you can simply add your photos to the Inlinkz above (the big blue button that says SUBMIT YOUR ENTRIES HERE) and you can add through Instagram, flickr or other photo sharing platforms like these.
I hope this is helpful,
Crafty hugs
Therese
