A Mini Study of Dovetail Butterflies

Hello, Altenew friends! It's Virginia here. I am fluttering by to share projects with the popular Dovetails Butterflies Stamp Set. This butterfly set will elevate your crafting project and provides tons of creative play. My two projects will perhaps give you some extra ideas and inspiration. Let's dive right to it.

The first card is nearly one layer, and yet, it has lots of layers and depth. You can apply many techniques with a stamp set like this. I started out with stamping the main image.

I stamped the butterfly with Deep Blue Seas Crisp Dye Ink Mini Cube Set, Lagoon Crisp Dye Ink, and Volcano Lake Crisp Dye Ink. To make the butterfly image pop, I clear-embossed the butterfly once I finished stamping.

The embossed butterfly can resist any further stamping. I proceeded to stamp more butterflies in the background.

The Blooming Tulips Stamp Set is perfect to pair up with the butterfly. This garden scene was so easy to create thanks to the intricate stamps. For the background, I added some glitter paste with Feeling Dotty Stencil.

Did you notice that I also stamped some blue dots in the background? The tiny stamp is part of the butterfly stamp set. There is just so much you can do with this stamp set!

The next card is a fun shaker card. With the coordinating die, this can be easily achieved with some planning ahead. I stamped the butterfly first onto a piece of cardstock (measures 5″ x 3/4″).

By following the guide, I stamped and clear-embossed the butterfly. Once done, I built a “wall” around the butterfly with Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I added an extra piece to double up the height as this allows the sequins to move around more freely.

For the card front, I die cut the butterfly and applied ink lightly with Stripe Builder Stencil. I then added a piece of acetate and placed it over the sequin-filled butterfly.

The sentiment from Slim Sentiments Die Set fit perfectly with the butterfly shaker card.

I love how versatile this stamp set is as it allows you to keep stamping simple or it can also be as complex as you like!
