A Magnolia for Her

by Marika

Hello everyone, it's Marika. Today I am sharing a colouring tutorial with two cards made with Magnolias for Her -set. This stamp set is the first one that I had from Altenew and I fell in love with these gorgeous magnolias straight away. Here are my cards:

Here is a close-up of the magnolias.

Here is another card made with the same technique as the first one. I messed up the background while colouring so I cut it out with my scissors and made this background with light blue splatters. It kind of reminds me of that warm spring rain – the promise of a warm summer days to come.  After I finished my card I thought it missed something and after a few chats with a dear friend of mine, I decided to add another branch to it. At least for me, sometime if you let the card to rest for a day or two, it is easier to finish it.

I used Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolour set to colour these flowers. The colours used are the following: No. 20, 34, 44, 46, 47, 53, 61. Here is a colouring tutorial if you wish to see how I made this card.

ARVE Error: need id and provider

I hope you liked it and got some inspiration to use this gorgeous Magnolia stamp again! See you soon!

Marika

This is one of the most exquisite cards I’ve seen. The colors of the flowers are beautiful and the manner in which it is mounted is eye catching.

Marika, First let me say that this card is breathtaking. I would also like to thank you for the tutorial, but MOST OF ALL, THANKS SO MUCH for giving us the exact colors of watercolor that you used. So many times I want to copy an artists card so badly, but I have the worst time matching up the colors. This is an tremendous help for me and I greatly appreciate it!

Marika you inspire me. I just recently purchased the watercolor set you worked with in the video. I believe my first attempt at a watercolored card was inspired by another of your cards with Persian Motifs. I thought it was so fun to work with. Thank you for continuing to share your talent.
