Fun Art Journal Idea: Stamping Beautiful Floral Outlines on Shrink Plastic

by Reiko Tsuchida

Hello, Altenew Friends! Reiko here, I'm sharing a super cute shrink-plastic charm made with the Paint-A-Flower: French Marigold Outline Stamp Set. I created the charm to decorate my petite 3-ring binder art journal.

Making an Adorable French Marigold Charm With Shrink Plastic

Altenew Morning Asters 1To make the charm, I simply stamped the floral outline images from the PAF set on a sheet of shrink plastic.  I used the Obsidian Pigment Ink to stamp the image, as it is best for mixed media projects like these.

The floral image shrunk to a smaller size upon application of the heat. Even though it shrank, the floral outline didn't lose its beautiful details. Talk about a nifty hack to resize your stamped images!

You can use this technique to make beautiful stickers, charms, and embellishments for your art journals, scrapbooks, cards, and other projects.  Remember that for this technique, it is best to use floral outline stamps and pair them with mixed media ink for a longer-lasting image.
I hope you were inspired! That is all for today. Thank you so much for stopping by, and I can't wait to see your projects made with shrink plastic!

Thanks for the great idea of making a shrink plastic charm.
I have found that it is better to put a hole in the plastic before heating otherwise work very fast while it’s still hot to pierce a hole for attaching a ring. Which method did you use?
Thanks again.

Hi! I put a hole before heating as you said. That’s easier for me too. Enjoy creating yours!
