Hello, Altenew friends! This is Virginia here. Layering Stencils are super fun and versatile and they are all the rage these days. From beautiful floral layering stencils to wonderful geometric, Altenew stencils offer endless possibilities. These assorted stencils really push your artistic ability to the next level.
Here are 5 top tips to elevate your stencil designs!
1. Pick Your Colors
Whether you like a monochromatic or a colorful one, you can easily do so with stencils. Here, I chose a few colors (pink, green, and yellow) to ink up Fancy Sweater Stencil Set (2 in 1).
2. Shift That Stencil
Once I placed the first stencil with Satin Masking Tape, I can easily apply ink with the Small Ink Blending Tool. I chose Teal Cave, Sweet Leaf, Just Green, Chamomile, and Baby Pink. With the change of each color, I shifted the stencil to create one of a kind color combo and pattern. By shifting the positions of the stencils, you can open up many possibilities!
3. Add Textures
Stenciled cards do not need to be bland and flat. By adding textures, your stenciled card becomes much more eye-catching. Here, I used Dotted Tile Debossing Cover Die to add special touches to my stenciled background.
4. Be Bold
Choosing a bold statement is perfect for a design like this. The Fancy Yay Die offers not just the sentiment but visual interest also. Any large word dies will work beautifully with a stenciled background.
5. Embellish and More!
Let's not forget the embellishments. I dressed up the sentiment die with Elegant Foil Stripe Washi Tape. Simply apply a piece of washi over the white cardstock and then die cut it! You've got yourself a FANCY die! The Antique Gold Sequins are just icing on the cake!
I hope you find my 5 top tips to elevate your stencil designs helpful. I appreciate that you stopped by today!

Thanks for your 5 stencil ideas! I love that stencil and have it along with cover die. I’ll continue to play!
Great stencil tips. Never would have thought of stenciling over a cover die but yours looks great.
Lovely card! Finding these stencils very challenging and a bit fiddly to get a pattern I actually like.
