Hi Altenew friends, it's Jaycee.
We focus so much of our creative energy on what the card looks like on the outside. In this Perfect Pairings with Jaycee tutorial, let's take a look at ways to embellish the inside of your beautifully handmade card. I love how supplementing the Altenew images with sentiments and crafting techniques easily frames your sentiment.
1. The Simple Creative Frame

For my first card example, I am building the inside of my card with Monsteras and Quotes Stamp Set. I love that this stamp set contains an array of encouraging sentiments. The simplistic arrangement of Monstera images creatively frames the small written sentiment I have in the center of my card.
TIP! I reach for the Flower Gel Pen Set – Calla Lily often when writing cards. I like the fine lines it creates and the gel dries quickly. No need to worry about smearing!
2. Spotlight Stenciling

To build on the previous card, I stamped and used the coordinating layering stencil to fill the images on the inside of my card. I loved mirroring the sketchy outline of Build-A-Garden: Magnificent Branch on the inside of my card. Using the layering stencil to spotlight color the roses added a pop of color, but won't overtake the sentiment I want to write on the inside of the card.
3. Creative Hot Foiling

Foiling is another way to add shine to the inside of your card. These smaller foil plates in Linear Life: Tropical Garden Bundle are perfect for framing a sentiment and carrying on the shimmer to the note card base. I encourage you to check your layering plates prior to starting this on your first card. I ensured that the foil impression was smooth and would not deboss the paper through to the back side. For me, this meant I had to remove a thin shim and use only the pressing plate.
4. Enveloped in Love

Finally, we can carry this embellishment concept to creatively showcase your envelope. The Envelope Liner Die Set is a MUST HAVE, and I use it to add more character to the inside of my envelope. You can use patterned paper, the Altenew Tissue Paper that accompanies your orders, wrapping paper, solid cardstock, mirror cardstock…the list is endless for lining envelopes.
Those are my 4 ways to dress up and embellish your card projects that do not involve the card front. I hope to see you all again very soon!
