3 Quick Cards That Really “Shine” + Video Tutorial

by Laurie Willison

Hello, Altenew friends!  It's Laurie here today, showcasing the new Shine Die Set.  I have 3 coordinating cards to share with you, all with similar Shine sentiments.

06142020 ShineDieSet 10 1Today's cards will be using Altenew's Watercolor Dots Background, Build-A-Flower: Poppy, and a few sentiments from Shine Like a Diamond. I had so much fun using these sets together to create coordinating cards but all with different looks.

06142020 ShineDieSet 11For each background, I stamped the Watercolor Dots using my Misti Stamp Positioner.  Instead of dabbing on the ink, I swiped rows to create a streaked look in the dots. I built each background with a different layout. Build-A-Flower: Poppy is such a gorgeous set with a bloom that is very easy to stamp. I added one bloom to each card.

06142020 ShineDieSet 12 1Using glitter paper, I was able to add a little shine to each card front. To finish off the cards, I used the Shine Die Set. This die set comes with 2 dies that can be used separately or stacked together. I love the white on white cardstock sentiment look but also found the black on black cardstock looked great too!

06142020 ShineDieSet 4I kept this card clean and simple with a stamped bloom and sentiment all focused towards the bottom of the card. Doing this allowed for a large area of white space. This really makes the bloom and sentiment pop!

06142020 ShineDieSet 5For some added dimension with this sentiment, I die cut both dies using black cardstock and then used the shadow die to cut out a layer of black fun foam. All three pieces layered together help the sentiment to really stand out.

06142020 ShineDieSet 6I have one last quick and simple card today. For this card, I added some glitter cardstock with the shadow die.

Altenew ShineDie1I stamped the leaves from Build-A-Flower: Poppy to the card base and to the front card panel. After layering on the bloom and then stamping on the sentiment, from Shine Like a Diamond, I finished it off with the glittery Shine.

Altenew ShineDie2After layering on the bloom and then stamping on the sentiment, I finished it off with the glittery Shine die-cuts.

Altenew ShineDie3Here is a quick video showing how I made this last card.

Thanks so much for coming by today.  I hope you have enjoyed today's coordinating projects!  Hope you have a great day!
