Hey crafty friends, Terri here today with 2 quick non-traditional Valentine's Day Cards!
I don't know about you but I sometimes feel a little nauseated by all of the Valentine's Day Cards out there. Of course, I want my loved one to know how I feel but without all of the roses and cheesy stuff.
That's when I got to thinking about how to take items from my stash that aren't themed and make them fit the occasion. I decided that a good stencil for a quick and easy background would work well and then add in a strong alphabet die set for a fuss-free sentiment.
How to Create Non-Traditional Valentine's Day Cards
Both cards were created in the same way, the only difference is the sentiment.
I started by blending through the stencils onto some 80lb White Solar Crest Cardstock using the Mini Blending Brush set. I find that using a smaller blending brush means I can be light-handed and don't overload with ink. The ink colors I chose were Bamboo, Jet Black, Puffy Heart, and Crimson Crisp Dye Inks.
To create the sentiment, I ink blended some Crimson Ink onto 110lb white cardstock. I then added some gold splatters using the Metallic Watercolor 14 Pan Set. Once dry, I cut out all of the letters needed for the sentiments. I also cut another set from black cardstock and layered them together with a slight drop shadow. This is one of my favorite ways to make an impactful sentiment!
To bring it all together, I trimmed the stenciled backgrounds to measure 3.75″ by 5″ and then layered them onto a black card measuring 4″ by 5.25″. I then added both panels to white A2 note cards. The sentiments were added using Instant Dimension Foam Tape.
There you have it, two non-traditional Valentine's Day Cards. Will you be creating Valentine's Day Cards this year?
