Hey there, Altenew friends, it's Jaycee!
Welcome back to another exciting year of crafting! In this blog post, we will explore how to create stunning thank-you cards using the Stencil Art Bi-Monthly Subscription Plan. Inspired by the vibrant red envelopes of the Lunar New Year, these cards are sure to make a bold statement and uniquely express your gratitude.
Crafting with Stencil Art
The Stencil Art Bi-Monthly Subscription Plan introduces the Playful Watercolor Flowers stencil collection for January 2024. This set features a large floral image that extends beyond the card's front, creating a striking visual impact. With five layers for the bouquet and an additional stencil for smaller motifs, the creative possibilities are endless. Thank-you cards are only one possibility of this beautiful layering stencil set.
Creating Thank-You Cards
Start by placing a 7.5-inch square panel of white cardstock on the Sticky Mat Grid. This panel can accommodate two mini slimline card fronts. Begin with the number 2 stencil to determine the placement and experiment with different arrangements. Secure the stencil with Satin Masking tape and use Forest Trail Fresh Dye Inks to color the leaf and stem layers. Gradually build the colors using various ink shades.
Adding Details and Petal Layers
Continue with stencils 3, 4, and the final detail layer to add depth and dimension to the leaves. Fill in the petal images using the number 1 stencil. Apply the Rose Petal Fresh Dye Ink Set in a gradient from lightest to darkest, creating beautiful pink hues.
Cutting and Filling
After completing the primary stenciled image, it's time to plan the layout for two mini slimline cards. Use a pencil to trace a border around where the 7.5-inch square panel will be cut. Use the number 6 stencil from the Playful Watercolor Flowers collection to fill in the remaining spaces on the mini slimline panels. Maintain a cohesive palette by using the same inks as earlier for well-composed thank-you cards.
Detailed Coloring and Finishing Touches
To stay true to the Red Envelope inspiration, use a red alcohol marker to color around the stenciled images. Trace slightly past the pencil guide to compensate for cutting. Enhance the cards further with metallic watercolors, adding loose outlines and veins to the petals. Consistency is key to making these details look intentional. Finally, add some gold splatter using coordinating metallic watercolor.
On the first background panel, pair the Pen Sketched Florals Stamp and Die Set to gold heat emboss some filler images around the card fronts. On the second background, gold heat-emboss the Pen Sketched Flowers Stamp and Die Set to fill in open spaces. Then, finish the card with a white heat-embossed sentiment on coordinating red cardstock.
By following these steps and using the Stencil Art Bi-Monthly Subscription Plan, you can create beautiful thank-you cards adorned with stunning stencil art. These unique cards, inspired by Lunar New Year Red Envelopes, are certain to express your appreciation creatively.
